Uovo — Italian for egg — is the second piece in our Schwarz series, closing an endless mathematical lattice into one self-contained form. A minimal surface curves everywhere yet wa stes nothing: each point sits in exact equilibrium with its neighbours. The Schwarz surface, first described in nineteenth-century differential geometry, extends that balance infinitely in three dimensions; Uovo holds a piece of it still.Off, it is a dense matte object, geometry at rest. On, it reverses: light moves through hundreds of open cells and the slightly translucent walls, printing the lattice across the table as patterned shadow.Making the surface printable took two years of development.
