Description The Knightsbridge Up And Down Plaster Wall Light is a 300mm wide curved gypsum bowl that mounts flush to the wall and directs light both upward and downward through open top and bottom apertures. A single E14 bulb inside the bowl casts a soft wash onto the wall surface above and below the fitting, creating ambient illumination without visible glare. Designed for hallways, stairwells, living rooms and bedrooms where indirect wall washing is preferred over direct downlighting, the fitting sits 150mm proud of the wall and spans 100mm in height. The gypsum construction is paintable, allowing the light to be colour-matched to the surrounding wall or left in its factory white finish. The curved bowl shape diffuses light evenly, avoiding hard edges or hotspots on the wall surface. The plaster material absorbs and reflects light differently to metal or glass fittings, giving a softer, more architectural quality to the illumination. The IP20 rating limits use to dry interior spaces — not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor applications. The fitting accepts halogen or LED E14 bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), with dimming capability dependent on the bulb chosen rather than the fixture itself. Wattage 40 W Warranty 2 Downloads Product Specification Sheet Product Manual Frequently Asked Can the plaster fitting be painted? Yes. The gypsum plaster construction accepts standard emulsion paint, allowing the fitting to be colour-matched to the wall or customised to contrast. Paint after installation and allow the paint to cure fully before switching the light on to avoid heat-related issues with fresh paint. What bulb does it require? The fitting takes a single E14 small Edison screw bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED E14 bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for soft ambient wall washing. Is it dimmable? Dimming depends on the bulb fitted, not the light itself. If you fit a dimmable LED E14 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch, the light will dim. Non-dimmable bulbs will not respond to dimmer controls. Can it be used in a bathroom? No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is suitable only for dry interior spaces. It is not rated for bathrooms, kitchens with high moisture, or outdoor use.
