Description The Knightsbridge PWL8 is a half-bowl uplighter wall light moulded from natural gypsum plaster, measuring 280mm wide by 128mm high with a 140mm projection from the wall. A single E14 bulb (sold separately, up to 40W) sits inside the bowl and directs light upwards onto the ceiling and upper wall, creating ambient wash rather than direct task lighting. Designed for hallways, landings, living rooms and bedrooms where indirect ambient light is needed, the plaster construction allows the fitting to be painted using standard emulsion paint, enabling it to blend into surrounding walls or match a room's colour scheme. The fitting arrives primed in matt white plaster, ready to install as-is or to paint before or after installation. Installed in multiples along a corridor or up a stairwell, the fittings create evenly distributed wash lighting without glare points. The gypsum body is naturally porous and relatively soft compared to ceramic or metal fittings, so it requires careful handling during installation and painting. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry indoor locations only. The Class I earthed construction requires connection to a standard earth terminal. Dimmer compatibility depends on the E14 bulb chosen — LED bulbs rated as dimmable will allow full dimming control, while non-dimmable bulbs should be used on standard switches only. The fitting arrives primed in matt white gypsum plaster and accepts standard emulsion paint. It can be painted before or after installation to match surrounding walls. Use good-quality emulsion and apply in thin coats to avoid pooling in the recesses of the bowl. What bulb does it take? The fitting takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) bulb up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for ambient uplighting. Is it dimmable? Dimmer compatibility depends on the E14 bulb you choose. LED bulbs marked as dimmable will allow full dimming control when paired with a compatible dimmer switch. Non-dimmable bulbs should be used on standard switches only. Can it be used in bathrooms? No. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry indoor locations only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms, or any area where it may be exposed to moisture or splashing.
