Six million acres of Adirondack forest hit peak color that morning, and one paddler had the good sense to see it from the water.I had the camera high over the river, watching the b anks burn orange and red, when a yellow kayak slid quietly into the middle of the frame. Straight down is the view nobody on the shore ever gets. The water runs almost black, so every tree doubles against it, and dead center is one small person having the best morning of their October. The kayak is what makes this more than a picture of pretty trees. It gives the forest its scale, and it gives you somewhere to sit. Everyone who looks at this print does the same thing, they put themselves in that boat. For anyone who grew up with these autumns, or moved away and misses home every October. Printed and finished to gallery standard, made to hold rich color without shouting in a modern room. A piece of the peak week to keep, and the seat in the boat is yours. Show more
