Upstate Diary offers an intoxicating, wood-smoked blend of art, interview, nature and interiors. That's something we can't offer in any other magazine in our store although it would amount to anything if the quality wasn't there. Fortunately Upstate Diary delivers handsomely. Founded by Swedish photographer Kate Orne this biannual has a radar for engaging, relatable personalities some of whom are household names, others more obscure whose creative output is worth your consideration. The magazine has grown out of a networking site for artists, illustrators, writers and creative designers who had moved out of New York City to live in the countryside beyond. If you share a love for the pastoral or even just like to nose country cabins, hideouts and rural studios, you'll love this. Issue 19 includes stories from Morocco, UK and the alpine region of Switzerland, featuring Rose Wylie, Nina Chanel Abney, Studio KO, Not Vital, Loie Hollowell, Steve Locke, Anne Lindberg, Philip Johnson and others.
