So many of you have been asking for more urchins but we have been really struggling to find the time to get down on to the flats in search of them and when we have we are coming back empty handed. Luckily our friend, Honor, and her faithful sidekick, the dog Merlin, have put in some serious beachcombing hours this winter and they have found us four perfect specimens dried up on the flats. This is the third heaviest of the 'new urchin' batch. The fourth image shows this urchin second in from the left. Each urchin has a 14mm diameter and is 7mm deep. It weighs a substantial 8.7 grams.
