Urea Fertilizer 46-0-0 is a concentrated prilled nitrogen fertilizer for soil application, delivering 46% actual nitrogen — among the highest concentrations of any dry nitrogen source. Each pound supplies about 7.4 ounces of actual nitrogen, more than double ammonium sulfate and roughly triple calcium nitrate, so less product is needed to spread, store, and ship. Nitrogen is the nutrient plants need in the largest quantity, forming the backbone of chlorophyll and driving green-up and vegetative growth. Once applied to moist soil, urea converts to plant-available ammonium and nitrate. It works across lawns and turf, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and field crops, and dissolves cleanly for soil drench and fertigation through drip and sprinkler systems. Apply to soil and water in promptly, since surface urea can lose nitrogen to the air within a day or two. Keep prills a few inches away from seeds, stems, and trunks, and do not apply to wet foliage or drought-stressed plants. Standard urea is not intended for foliar spraying.
