With Usato (Mutanda) (Used / Underwear), Remoi’s Destruct Construct collection reaches a level of startling provocation and intimacy. The work doesn't stop at recycling industrial or artistic materials; it inserts an extremely personal everyday object — a pair of underwear — elevating it to an artistic artifact through the solidification of color. Usato (Mutanda) vibrates with a raw, almost carnal energy. The background is dominated by a visceral, textural red, over which splashes of white and smoky gray explode at the top, creating an almost atmospheric effect, like clouds over burning ground. A black and white "One Line" snakes in the bottom left, giving rhythm to the composition. The centerpiece is the black mass in the middle: it is not just paint, but a pair of underwear embedded directly into the canvas. The garment has been "frozen" in its movement by a drip of acid yellow running through it vertically, turning an intimate object into a two-dimensional sculpture. In the upper right, a red paintbrush stained with paint is left stuck in the frame, as if witnessing an interrupted creative act or an artistic construction site still in progress.
