The USGI M-1951 Field Jacket is a surplus field jacket featuring wool-lined hip pockets, buttons for attaching a liner, and a lightweight tuck-away hood. This example was manufactured on 7 November 1952 and is sized Small Short. First introduced during the tail end of the Korean War, these jackets were designed to replace the older M-1943 that were no longer fit for purpose in colder climates. This particular jacket is the Korean War model but features subdued name and US Army tapes, suggesting later service use in the late 1960s to 1970s.
