Utricularia quelchii Mt. Roraima #5 comes from the most famous tepui of them all, the flat topped giant that inspired countless lost world stories. This species is known for its vivid magenta to purple flowers, and Roraima locality plants are always a highlight for tepui collectors. Like campbelliana, quelchii grows on wet, mossy rock walls in habitat. It traps prey underground with tiny bladder traps hidden in the moss around its roots, catching microscopic soil life rather than insects. Recreate that wet mossy surface at home and it will settle in well. Quick Care Guide: Tepui Utricularia Media: pure long fiber sphagnum moss, kept loose and airy. Never a peat-perlite mix. Moisture: constantly wet, this species does not like to dry out even for a short stretch. Light: bright indirect light. Tepui species tend to prefer cooler, brighter conditions over hot direct sun. Temperature: cooler nights help mimic the high elevation habitat. Avoid prolonged heat. Water: distilled or rainwater only, same as every other carnivorous plant in the collection.
