VACUUM BASE is supplied vacuum from an air generated venturi, giving the base 110kgs of holding power to a clean flat surface. It can be operated with a small compressor, providing it can supply 450kPa (65psi) pressure continuous, when operating with an electric or battery drill. Maximum pressure of 60kgs can be applied to the surface being drilled. When operating with an air drill, the compressed air flow has to be of maximum pressure of 700kPa (100psi) and the base has a port available, controlled by a safety valve which only allows air to flow to the air drill when the base is firmly fixed to the surface to be drilled. Standard carriage configuration gives an operating travel of 280mm from base of chuck to surface and with the carriage inverted, it gives 380mm. Carriage is operated by a rack and pinion with 13:1 ratio. The drilling mast is able to be moved left or right by 15° to get into difficult areas. With an air drill fitted – the unit can be used underwater. This unit has a holding power of 320kgs with air pressure supplied to the vacuum generator of 450kpa+ Gives full stability due to the stabilizing feet incorporated and can lock on to checker plate, un-even surfaces (such as concrete so that core and hammer drills can be used) With the new mounting for air drill attachment with “U” bolts, it is possible to fit larger air drill if required (for oil rig work).
