The Bar Stool by Valerie Objects builds on the earlier chair, though it feels a touch more direct in its approach. Designed by Muller Van Severen in collaboration with Bjarke Ingels Group, it began as part of the lounge bar at BIG’s own headquarters. That starting point comes through in the geometry, which feels slightly sharper and more architectural, while still carrying the character of the original design.Made from aluminium, it’s light enough to move around easily but still holds its structure well over time. The lacquered seat softens the overall feel, giving a more comfortable surface without changing the simplicity of the form. It’s not overworked, which is really the point. With three different heights, it adapts well to kitchen counters or bar settings, and the colour options, ivory, green, alu and pink, keep things considered rather than excessive.In day to day use, it settles in quickly. It tucks away neatly when needed, but still looks right left out, which isn’t always the case with bar stools. There’s a straightforwardness to it that makes it easy to live with.
