Adding a digital camera to a compound microscope transforms it from a viewing instrument to a documentation platform — specimens can be photographed, measurements made on screen, and images shared with colleagues or incorporated into reports without removing the camera to view through the eyepieces (on trinocular instruments). The VEE GEE Scientific 1300-CDPC Series USB Digital Microscope Cameras are designed for use with the Vanguard 1220CM, 1300 Series, and 1400 Series microscopes — available in 2 MP, 5 MP, and 12 MP resolutions to match documentation requirements and budget. Single-cable operation: the USB connection carries video signal, camera power, and full software control through one cable — no separate power supply, no extra cables on the bench. Imaging software includes still capture, video recording, exposure and white balance control, measurement tools, and annotation capability. All three models share the same 68 × 68 × 46 mm camera body. Features and Benefits Single USB Cable — Power, Video, and Control: One USB 2.0 cable from camera to computer handles power delivery, live video feed, and full software control — no separate power adapter, no secondary data cable. Available in 2 MP, 5 MP, and 12 MP: 2 MP (1920×1080, 30fps) for routine documentation and teaching; 5 MP (2560×1920, 22fps) for detailed imaging and publication; 12 MP (4000×3000, 15fps) for maximum resolution archival imaging and fine measurement work. Still and Video Capture Modes: All three models support both still image capture (JPEG/TIFF) and video recording — document dynamic specimens, cell division, and motility alongside static imaging. Automatic and Manual Exposure Control: Auto-exposure handles routine use; manual exposure mode enables consistent documentation across repeated specimens under varying staining intensities. Compatible with 1220CM, 1300 Series, 1400 Series: All three 1300-CDPC cameras are compatible with the full Vanguard compound microscope line — one camera family covers the entire 1200/1300/1400 instrument range. Measurement and Annotation Software Included: Calibrated measurement tools allow length, area, and angle measurement directly on captured images. Annotation capability for labeling and reporting. Does the camera work with a binocular microscope? The 1300-CDPC cameras connect to a dedicated camera port, not a standard eyepiece tube. The 1220CM (binocular) has a built-in camera port and is compatible. For the 1300 and 1400 Series binocular models (1321BRi, 1323PHI, 1423PHI), a camera port is typically not present — the trinocular models (1331BRi, 1333PHI) have the third optical port required. If you have a binocular 1300/1400 Series instrument and need camera capability, contact VEE GEE Scientific before ordering to confirm whether a camera port adapter is available for your specific model. What operating system does the imaging software support?Imaging software compatibility includes Windows operating systems. Contact VEE GEE Scientific or LabSupplies.com for current Mac OS and Linux compatibility information.
