Two red hands press against the lower face, fingers interlocked at the mouth. Above them, the face is not obscured — it has receded: pale ground, dark orbital shadows, no features that hold. The surface carries the grain of worked paper, ink dragged and lifted across the plane. Red operates here as pressure, not colour. It occupies the hands completely, bleeds into the surrounding field, and refuses the blue-grey ground that holds everything else. What the hands cover was already unresolved.
