This is the third LP in our highly regarded series of Texas soul albums, with the timeframe moving onto 1966. By this time, soul, in all its forms was the dominant force in Afro-Am erican music, outselling all previous genres of R & B. Texas was one of the few areas where the old styles of music were still strong and this album showcases the way that the fascinating battle between old and new were being played out. Gospel based vocalists were coming more to the fore than hitherto, but blues based instrumentation and arrangements still predominated. So here it is, the very best of Texas Soul from 1966.
