Victorian Circa first half 19th century | England An antique early nineteenth century pair of small brass candlesticks (see The Gen) with vase knopped stems on an oblong foot. DIME NSIONS: 11.5 cm. CONDITION: In very good condition, wear consistent with an antique age and use. The brass has a lovely warm patina created by many years of handling. No evident restoration. The candle and the simple oil lamp were the only available artificial illuminants, and in countries where the average temperature did not cause it to melt or droop, the candle was preferred.
