Desert sands are never the same in their shapes - the wind is a gifted artist, always changing its lines, never repeating them. Every moment is temporary, but there’s beauty in each one. The Dune collection captures fragments of that movement, holding something that usually disappears. Its asymmetric shape creates an illusion of movement, echoing the organic flow found in nature's own design. Each piece is made entirely by hand using the coil technique with stoneware clay. After shaping the base form, it rests for a day, just enough to become a little firmer, and then begins “the wind’s job” - adding the ribs one by one, shaping them like waves in the sand. The piece dries slowly so the body can hold every line tightly. After two weeks, right before the first firing, the surface is carefully sanded while the clay is at its most fragile, creating a soft, even, sand-like texture. This design is repeatable, but no two pieces are ever the same. The rhythm of the hands, the moment of its making - all of it leaves traces. Every Dune carries its own story.
