This indigenous Hungarian grape is often called the "Pinot Noir of Eastern Europe" for its light, elegant, and delicate profile. This 2021 vintage from Géza Galán is a masterclass in finesse, sourced from 30-year-old vines grown on the loess and clay soils of Mohács. Géza employs a "hamburger method" of winemaking, layering whole clusters and hand-destemmed berries, to preserve the fruit as fresh and aromatic as possible. The wine is aged for 11 months in a mix of oak and fibreglass without any racking or additives. It’s a savoury, mouthwatering red packed with forest floor notes, red berries, and a punchy kick of black pepper. Best served slightly chilled when you want something complex yet refreshing.
