This allows for tracking how the temperature spreads over the rotor's surface over time. Such information is crucial for several purposes: it helps in assessing and improving how evenly the brake pads press against the rotor, choosing the right brake pads, ensuring effective cooling, enhancing overall braking performance, and preventing the development of hot spots caused by uneven heating, which can lead to thermal instability. A sensor is designed to measure temperatures at multiple points — 16, 8, or 4 points — and can do so with a high level of detail, up to 100 times per second (100 Hz). It's capable of measuring temperatures ranging from very cold (-20˚C) to extremely hot (1100˚C). Additionally, all of these sensors are housed in a durable, compact case made of aluminium that is rated IP66, meaning it's well-protected against dust and water. When bundled with the VBOX Touch data logger (RLVBBTMS), you can record and observe the temperature of all four brake disks on a 4.3-inch colour screen that's easily readable in daylight. The brake temperature monitoring app running on VBOX Touch provides a heat map for each sensor, along with real-time temperature readings, peak temperature values, Speed and Vmax. You can also use the Brake Temperature Sensor Kit (RLACS314) with a VBOX Video HD2 data logger.
