Produced in Calabria by the Caffo family, Vecchio Amaro del Capo is a celebrated Italian liqueur that captures the vibrant essence of the southern Mediterranean. Its complex recipe is the result of a maceration of 29 different herbs, flowers, fruits, and roots, including bitter orange, sweet orange, liquorice, mandarin, chamomile, and juniper, all harvested from the sun-drenched Calabrian landscape. The spirit has a bright, golden-amber colour and is famous for its unique serving tradition; it is best enjoyed at –20°C straight from the freezer. This intense chilling process thickens the texture and allows the aromatic bouquet of citrus and mint to bloom. On the palate, it offers a harmonious and approachable bittersweet experience, featuring notes of honey and spice that lead to a refreshing, herbal finish. While traditionally served as a frozen digestif in its iconic frosted glass, it is also a versatile component in long drinks and modern cocktails.
