The Velda Heron Stop is a simple, discreet pond protection system designed to deter herons and help prevent cats from reaching pond fish. Nylon lines create a physical barrier around the pond, while small bells produce an unfamiliar ringing sound if the upper line is disturbed. When approaching a pond, a heron will usually land nearby and walk towards the water. Contact with the discreet nylon line restricts its approach and causes the bells to ring, encouraging the bird to move away before reaching the fish. Velda Heron Stop Features Helps protect pond fish from herons and cats Creates a two-height barrier using discreet nylon line Eight bells produce a deterrent sound when the upper line is disturbed Protects a pond perimeter of up to approximately 12.5 metres Simple to position around most garden ponds Nearly invisible once installed The system uses eight stakes positioned around the outside of the pond. Nylon line is threaded through the upper holes to restrict access by herons, with the supplied bells attached between the stakes. If a heron contacts the line while approaching the water, the resulting movement causes the bells to ring. A second nylon line can be threaded through the lower holes to help prevent cats from reaching the pond edge. The barrier does not require electricity and can be arranged to follow the shape of the pond. Velda Heron Stop Kit Includes 8 pond-side stakes 25 metres of nylon line 8 bells Installation Guidance Position the stakes approximately 30cm from the pond edge and around 1.5 metres apart. Install each stake with its uppermost hole pointing towards the pond. Push the stakes approximately 15cm into suitable ground. Thread the nylon line through the upper holes and attach the bells between the stakes. For additional protection against cats, thread the remaining line through the lower holes.
