I imagined these earrings as the essence of Venice, a city I’ve never visited, yet one that seems to live in my hands when I work. As I sculpted them, I kept seeing a city of contrasts and secrets: the old stones and peeling paint alongside glimmers of gold, the quiet of a canal just around the corner from a crowded piazza, the way voices echo and disappear into narrow alleyways. Each Venise earring is hand sculpted, with an elongated, organic drop that feels almost like a softened shard of architecture. The surface is textured and alive, never perfectly smooth—like walls worn by time, water, and touch. At the tip rests a small raw sapphire, a deep blue that recalls canal water catching the last light of the day. When I look at the Venise earrings, I think of hidden courtyards, small theatres, and conversations that fade into whispers. I’ve never walked those streets, but through these earrings, I imagine a Venice that is both rough and luminous, intimate and mysterious, held in a curve of gold and a single drop of blue.
