We sill share information as it becomes available. Veritage is a cold-hardy red wine grape developed by grape breeder Tom Plocher, Minnesota, for northern vineyards and challenging growing climates. Bred specifically for excellent wine quality, winter hardiness, and spring frost resistance, Veritage has quickly gained attention among commercial wineries and home growers alike. The vine produces large clusters of dark blue-black grapes that ripen in mid-season. Fruit develops excellent sugar levels while maintaining balanced acidity, making it suitable for producing deeply colored, full-bodied red wines. Veritage wines are known for complex flavors and aromas that may include raspberry, plum, black pepper, chocolate, leather, and cranberry, along with excellent structure and aging potential. Vines are moderately vigorous, highly productive, and adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Veritage exhibits very good resistance to powdery mildew and downy mildew, reducing spray requirements in many regions. It is especially valued for its ability to withstand severe winter temperatures when properly managed. Hardy in Zones 4–8, Veritage is an excellent choice for growers seeking a premium red wine grape capable of thriving where traditional European wine grapes often struggle.
