Recerca means research in Catalan, which is a fair description of how Jessica Albero and Laurent Pujol approach the seven hectares they farm between Vingrau and Paziols, in the Cat alan country north of Perpignan. Nothing is added during fermentation, sulphur least of all, and everything goes into bottle unfined and unfiltered. Version is a red that reads as southern without the heat that usually implies. Dark cherry and garrigue herbs, a fine dusty grip, and a finish that stays savoury rather than turning sweet. Give it a slight chill and it opens up further. Show more
