The very clinically named "Vest, Flying Winter, Type C-2" is a very interesting piece of knitwear. Somewhere between a jacket and a sweater, this garment was originally designed as a layering piece for pilots in the early 1930s. Just the right size and shape to wear under a leather flight jacket like the A-2 or G-1 (though the G-1 would come much later), the C-2 is a fully knit "lining" that can be worn independently of another layer should such layering feel unnecessary. Cut like a bomber jacket, it features a single bucket pocket at the front, raglan sleeves, and a 1940s bell-shaped Talon zip. The knit is tight and stable enough to wear as a jacket or a mid-layer, with a secure fit and enough mechanical stretch to move around in comfortably. The knit is 100% wool, with a self-knit collar and ribbed cuffs & hem. Fits true to size. Wash cold on delicate or hand wash and lay flat to dry. 100% wool Knit body 1940s Talon zip Single bucket pocket Ribbed cuffs & hem Tight thick knit True to size Cold wash on delicate, lay flat to dry Custom labels Made in Japan MC24105
