VHT Flameproof Coating is specifically designed for high temperature applications. Resists temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). Covers approximately 12-14 square feet per can. Ideal for: exhaust components, radiator & cooling system components & manifolds. VHT FLAMEPROOF Coating will renew and extend the life of any surface exposed to extremely high temperatures. This unique coating is widely used by the automotive industry on exhaust systems, and the aerospace industry for jet engines, re-entry vehicles and other high temperature paint applications. Directions: PREP: Prepare surface by removing loose paint, dirt, rust, grease, etc. For best results use grease and wax remover to clean surface. Scuff sand surface with a red Scotch Brite pad or equivalent until bare metal is bright and shiny. Wipe surface down again with grease & wax remover. Mask-off surrounding areas to protect from overspray. Use at temperatures between 60°F (15°C) to 95°F (35°C) and when humidity is less than 60%. Do not apply paint in direct sunlight. SHAKE: Shake can vigorously for one full minute after mixing ball moves freely. Shake can for 10 seconds after each minute of use. APPLY: To spray, hold can parallel and 8-10 inches from surface to be painted and use in an even, sweeping motion. To avoid runs and sags, apply in 2 light coats, followed by one medium wet coat. Apply all coats within 1 hour, allowing 10 minutes between each coat. For additional coats after 1 hour, wait 7 days for paint to cure. Dries to the touch in 1 hour. Can be handles in 3 hours. After paint is completely dry, it must be cured to substantially increase the durability of the finish and enhance chemical resistance. Finish is not chemical resistant until cured. Applying Off-Vehicle Information: Cure at 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes then let cool for 30 minutes. Cure at 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes then let cool for 30 minutes. Cure at 600°F (315°C) for 30 minutes then let cool for 30 minutes. Do not exceed the heat tolerance of the least heat tolerant part. Applying On-Vehicle Information: Run at idle for 10 minutes then cool for 20 minutes. Run at idle for 20 minutes then let cool for 20 minutes. Run under normal operating conditions for 30 minutes then let cool. Additional Information: Formulated to extend the life of any surface exposed to extremely high temperatures. Ideal for exhaust components, radiator and cooling system components and manifolds. Withstands intermittent temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). The EZ Touch Nozzle requires 50% less finger fatigue than a standard nozzle and allows for greater coverage and less overspray. After each use, invert can and spray until clear gas comes out. If spray button becomes clogged, wear eye protection and wipe off orifice with lacquer thinner. DO NOT stick pins or wire into the can opening. Discard empty can in trash pick-up.
