This delightful Victorian school desk is as practical as it is great to look at and would be a lovely addition to any home. The seat is attached to the main desk with a cast iron frame designed for a child to place one leg on either side. There are two holes on the top designed to hold ink wells but would be great for displaying floral arrangments or holding larger stationary. The work surface lifts to reveal a spacious storage area that is perfect for stationary and paperwork. There are lots of bumps and scratches in this well-used school desk that only add to its rustic appeal. There is a screw missing on the right-hand side that can't be replaced due to the warping of the metal, this can be seen in the pictures and the lid is very secure without it. We haven't done much in the way of restoring this piece other than giving it a good clean and polish as we found the existing layer of lacquer was in perfect condition. This is a delightful piece of practical furniture that will bring some real character to the home.[dimensions][w]53[/w][h]44/97[/h][d]80[/d][/dimensions]
