Long gone are the days when women and young girls wore several layers of frilly underclothes. Fortunately, our favorite 18” girls are able to continue wearing these charming styles, even if they are no longer practical for us.Pantalets have 5 length options, with loose or elasticized leg finish. The longest length is more suited to Regency era outfits (1800-1820), with the remainder corresponding to various other eras up to the 1920s.The Camisole is in the style of a corset cover, which would have covered a young girl’s stays. This is a great project to use up small amounts of lace or to experiment with small remnants of fine fabrics. Though this set is designed to be underwear, it would also look lovely as a modern girl’s pajamas.Both pieces may be made of very lightweight cottons, silky wovens, lining fabrics, and of course silk. Keep in mind, very lightweight fabrics are best if meant to be worn below other garments.The Pantalets can be dressed up with extra lace, pintucks (instructions given) and loose or elasticized legs.
