One of the archetypes of Grower Champagne, and considered a benchmark for the movement, Bérêche et Fils was founded as a family-run domaine in 1847, but survived in relative obscurity until more modern times. They are traditional producers, utilizing biodynamics and minimal intervention techniques to produce their cuvées. A masterclass is expression of purity and structure, the Brut Réserve blends Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, with a significant portion of the blend coming from a perpetual reserve that was started in 1985. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels with indigenous yeast, disgorged after 2-3 years on the the lees, the wine is finished with a low dosage.
