Viking Seax Our Viking Seax has been beautifully crafted using the highest-quality materials. The blade has been hand-forged using carbon steel to achieve the straight-back seax shape associated with the Vikings. The handle has been hand-crafted from olive wood with a brass cap. The whole seax has been finished with our signature beeswax and linseed oil blend, which helps protect, aids in grip, and brings out the wood's natural grain. The handmade scabbard has been hand-sewn and finished masterfully with brass accents. These are an attempt to recreate what likely would have been used in the Viking Age. The straight-back-shaped seax with a curved blade seems to have been the most popular blade shape in Scandinavia throughout the Viking Age Features: Sharpened edge Total Length - 41 cm (16") Blade width - 3.2 cm (1.25") Blade length - 28 cm (11") Weight - 0.7 Kg Blade material - Carbon steel (1040) Handle material - Olive wood Hand-sewn leather scabbard Beautiful brass accents Blade hardness - 58-60 HRC Each seax has been carefully handmade, so small variations may occur. It is stamped with our logo as a sign of assured quality. Please note: High-carbon steel blades are used for their durability and ability to keep a sharpened edge. However, like all carbon steel blades, they are susceptible to moisture erosion (rust) if not cared for correctly. Please oil the blade regularly, especially after use and before storing for long periods of time. THESE ARE NOT TOYS. THEY ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL SEAXES WITH EXTREMELY SHARP BLADES.
