These are the first two 12”x12” pieces in the Vintage Western Collection, and I aimed to create something truly distinctive with them. The backgrounds feature a vintage seed sack from the 1950s, bearing the authentic scars and patina that come with a fabric aged over 75 years. The sacks were carefully deconstructed, quilted, and embroidered, with each stitch and motif thoughtfully placed to personalize the fabric. The icons incorporated into the design were crafted by deconstructing vintage Louis Vuitton bags, then quilted and embroidered to evoke both tradition and innovation. To add a final touch of craftsmanship, embroidered butterflies were layered in relief, creating a nuanced, three-dimensional finish that enhances the depth and storytelling of each piece.
