The 2011 The Creator is a 70/30 blend of Cabernet and Syrah that's aged all in smaller barrel. Beautifully perfumed and aromatic, with notions of pepper, licorice, lead pencil shav ings, distinct minerality and assorted kirsch and darker berry fruit all emerging from the glass, it is medium to full-bodied, layered and pure on the palate, with plenty of tannin emerging on the finish. As with most of Smith's 2011s, it has the fruit to be enjoyable now, yet should also evolve gracefully for at least a decade, most likely longer. Score - 93.
