The fabulous 2009 Valderiz comes from 30- to70-year-old vines and is blended with 5% Albillo before aged for 20 months in mainly French oak (50% new). Again, one is impressed by bo th the precision and clarity on the nose, the vibrant effervescent red berry fruit being allowed to express itself. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, fleshy tannins. There is fine grip here and lovely touches of orange zest and a little balsamic on the elegant finish.
