The 2012 J. Alberto is a masculine Malbec with a dash of Merlot from a vineyard in Mainque that was planted in 1955. The wine is very aromatic and showy, with a complex nose of vio lets, blueberries, plums, maraschino cherries and hints of licorice, Chinese ink and raw meat. The palate shows superb balance, ultra-sleek tannins, pungent flavors of blue fruit and great acidity. This wine shows what can be done in Rio Negro. Bravo! Drink 2015-2022. Score - 93.
