Queylus was conceived as a Pinot Noir / Chardonnay (read: Burgundy style) house ... yet they could not ignore Merlot and Cabernet Franc, grape varieties that grow well and are popu lar in Ontario vineyards. This particular version is made from 4 year old vines and relies heavily on Merlot (85%), it exhibits a spicy-peppery intensity especially on the nose; in the mouth it's round and full of fruit flavours dominated by raspberry, cherry and blackberry.
