Plant Description: A slender, small growing perennial violet with 5 petaled flowers. The petals usually are a soft light purple/lilac/lavender hue with deeper purple lines in the p etals. Leaves are toothed and primarily basal. Landscape and Ecological Function: Most common in low-big elevations in moist ecosystems, particularly wetlands, cool stream edges, marshes, wet meadows, and places with seasonal flooding.
