Vision Engineering MRH001 Mantis ERGO Stereo Microscope Head Head only — stand and lens sold separately. See the Mantis Build Guide to configure your complete system. The Vision En gineering MRH001 Mantis ERGO is an eyepiece-less optical stereo microscope head that eliminates the neck strain and eye fatigue of traditional binocular microscopes. Instead of looking down through eyepieces, operators view a full-size, high-resolution 3D stereo image projected in front of them — dramatically improving ergonomics and reducing inspection fatigue over long shifts. Made in the USA at Vision Engineering's Connecticut manufacturing facility, the Mantis is the benchmark stereo microscope for precision electronics, medical device, and laboratory inspection worldwide. Industries & Applications PCB Inspection & Rework — Ideal for solder joint inspection, component placement verification, and precision rework on populated boards Electronics Manufacturing (EMS/OEM) — Used on assembly lines for visual QC, IPC-A-610 inspection, and conformal coating review Medical Device Manufacturing — Supports cleanroom-compatible inspection of micro-assemblies, sutures, implants, and device components Wire & Cable Assembly — Provides magnified view for crimping, harness assembly, and connector inspection Research & Laboratory — Suitable for biological specimen examination, materials analysis, and general lab inspection tasks Precision Machining & Metrology — Long working distance enables inspection of machined parts and tooling without obstruction Key Features Eyepiece-less design — full-size 3D stereo image with no strain from traditional oculars Magnification: 3x – 15x via 3-lens multi-view turret Dynamic 3D LED lighting with white and UV lighting option Long working distance for unobstructed access to the work surface Ergonomic upright viewing position reduces neck and back fatigue Made in the USA — Vision Engineering Connecticut facility 3rd Generation Mantis platform Technical Specifications Specification Value Part Number MRH001 Series Mantis ERGO — 3rd Generation Accessory Type Microscope Head (stand & lens required, sold separately) Viewing System Eyepiece-less optical stereo Magnification Range 3x – 15x Lens Turret 3-position multi-view turret Illumination Dynamic 3D LED — White & UV options Eyepiece Type Digital (eyepiece-free design) Dimensions (H x L x W) 14.61" x 10.83" x 8.58" Weight 9.7 lbs Origin Made in USA (Connecticut) Mantis ERGO vs. Traditional Binocular Stereo Microscopes Feature Mantis ERGO (MRH001) Traditional Binocular Stereo Viewing method Eyepiece-free 3D image Dual eyepieces Ergonomics Upright, natural posture Head tilted down, neck strain Operator fatigue Significantly reduced Common on long shifts Glasses compatibility Full — no eyepiece contact Limited by eye relief Multi-user use No interpupillary adjustment needed Requires readjustment per user Working distance Long Varies (often shorter) Frequently Asked Questions What stand is compatible with the MRH001? The MRH001 head requires a compatible Vision Engineering stand (sold separately). Refer to the Mantis Build Guide to select the correct stand and lens combination for your application. Contact MTE Solutions for system configuration assistance. What magnification does the MRH001 provide? The MRH001 provides 3x to 15x magnification via a 3-position turret lens system. The exact magnification at each turret position depends on the lens selected. Is the Mantis ERGO suitable for IPC-A-610 PCB inspection? Yes — the Mantis ERGO is widely used for IPC-A-610 inspection in electronics manufacturing environments. Its ergonomic eyepiece-free design makes it practical for extended inspection sessions on production lines. Can operators wear glasses while using the Mantis ERGO? Yes — because the Mantis uses an eyepiece-free viewing system, operators with corrective lenses can use it comfortably without removing their glasses or adjusting eye relief. Is the MRH001 made in the USA? Yes — the Mantis ERGO is manufactured at Vision Engineering's facility in Connecticut, USA. What is the difference between the Mantis ERGO and a standard Mantis Elite? The Mantis ERGO (MRH001) features an enhanced ergonomic head design optimized for extended use comfort. Both share Vision Engineering's core eyepiece-free technology, but the ERGO version offers improved positioning flexibility. Contact MTE Solutions to compare models for your specific application.
