Designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951, the Akari Light Sculptures are a series of handcrafted paper lamps that bring a warm, diffused glow to interiors. Each piece is made in Japan usi ng traditional washi paper and bamboo ribbing, combining time-honoured craft with a modern sculptural form. The Akari 1A is one of the most recognised designs in the series. Compact in size with a distinctive sculptural character, it serves equally well as a table lamp or a small accent light. The hand-made shade softens the light to create a calm, atmospheric presence, while the slender frame keeps the design feeling light and balanced.
