How to Measure Temporary Hardness (Carbonate Hardness): Let the water run out of the tap until it is cool Fill the measuring tube up to the 5 ml mark with tap water Add the indicator liquid drop by drop, swirling regularly and counting the drops ATTENTION: Hold the bottle upright. Air inclusion in drops falsifies the measurement result After the first drop, the color changes to purple Keep adding drops until the color changes from purple to yellow and is stable, then the measurement is finished 1 Drop = 1 °dH (17.848 ppm) (Example: 10 drops = 10 °dH (178.48ppm))
