Official VMFAT-502 Nightmares Shoulder Patch — Where F-35 Pilots Are Made The Nightmares forge the Marine Corps' fifth-generation fighter pilots — and the training is as intense as the name. Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 502, the Nightmares, carry the lineage of VMF-513, a World War II and Korean War-era fighter squadron. Today, VMFAT-502 serves as the Marine Corps' F-35 Fleet Replacement Squadron, training the pilots who will fly the Lightning II into combat. Every Marine F-35 pilot passes through the Nightmares' syllabus, learning the tactics, systems, and procedures that make the fifth-generation fighter the most lethal aircraft the Corps has ever operated. The F4U Corsair heritage meets the F-35 future in one squadron. Perfect For: VMFAT-502 graduates, F-35 Lightning II pilots, Nightmares alumni, and Marine fighter training patch collectors. The Nightmares aren't just a bad dream — they're the F-35 pipeline. Show more
