With the Volute chair, the aim was to create a beautiful piece through finding balance in its design. We wanted it to be undoubtedly new and fresh but also conjure something classical. The chair offers an embrace, a nook to nestle into, but it also opens like a curtain presenting itself to the room. Its softness is balanced by visual weight. The uninterrupted surface pouring directly onto the floor is a feast of materiality, and yet this monolithic form is built lightweight, giving it the utility of a dining chair.
