The draw cords can be adjusted in a way that if you were wearing this on your chest you can have it flip down and stay in a fixed position for you to quickly read your map/reference sheet. Should you need to examine it closer or pass it to a squad mate - you can rip the whole panel out due to its hook & loop backing. The elastic band can be used to simply tuck in a med pouch for example, or mount VX mag sleeves (not included).
