Turn Your Vyper Into a Mobile Workstation When you’re detailing a car, the chair usually isn’t the problem. The problem is everything you need to keep getting up for. You have a polisher on the floor, spray bottles sitting across the garage, clean microfibers on the bench, used towels piled somewhere else, and small tools or hardware that disappear the second you set them down. The Vyper Sidekick gives all of that stuff a place to live directly beside the chair. It mounts to the side of a compatible Vyper and creates a 28-by-10.5-inch workspace that rolls around the garage with you. You can keep your polisher, brushes, towels, spray bottles, heat gun, tape, small tools, and whatever else you’re actively using within arm’s reach instead of constantly getting out of the chair. Everything You’re Using, Right Beside You The Sidekick includes two stainless-steel cup holders, but they’re useful for much more than drinks. They can hold detailing bottles, cans, small containers, hardware, or anything else that fits securely inside them. The larger open section gives you a place for polishers, impacts, drills, heat guns, microfiber towels, tape rolls, magnetic trays, and the normal pile of stuff that accumulates while you’re working. Rubber edge protectors surround the attachment to reduce the chance of scratching a vehicle when you roll close to the paint. That last part matters. A bare steel tray hanging off the side of a chair would make me nervous around a corrected or coated vehicle. The protective edging makes the Sidekick much more appropriate for detailing, PPF, vinyl, and other work where you’re constantly moving close to finished surfaces. Sidekick vs. Tool Tray The Sidekick and Tool Tray solve two different problems. The Sidekick sits beside you and holds the products and tools you’re actively using. The Tool Tray mounts underneath the chair and gives you somewhere to place loose hardware, sockets, small parts, shop rags, or items you want contained below the seat. You do not necessarily need both, but they are designed to work together. For a dedicated detailing or fabrication setup, the combination turns the Vyper into a legitimate rolling workstation instead of simply being a comfortable place to sit. Who Should Add It? The Sidekick makes the most sense for someone who regularly works with several tools, bottles, towels, or small parts at the same time. I would add it for: Automotive detailing and paint correction PPF and vinyl installation Fabrication and welding Mechanical and assembly work Woodworking and finishing Any workstation where tools and supplies need to move with you For detailing, you can keep a polisher and microfiber towels on the larger side while using the stainless holders for bottles or brushes. For PPF and vinyl work, the Sidekick gives you a place for a heat gun, tape, squeegees, and installation fluids. For mechanical work, it can hold an impact, hand tools, hardware, and the parts you just removed. This is not an accessory I would add purely for appearance. It extends the chair’s footprint and gives you more stuff hanging off one side. The reason to buy it is function. If you’re constantly getting up or reaching across the floor for the next tool, it will make the way you work substantially more efficient. Compatibility Vyper’s published specification table lists the Sidekick for the Robust Steel Max, Elevated Steel Max, and Robust Steel Pro. The Low-Pro is specifically excluded. The attachment installs with basic hand tools and includes the necessary mounting hardware and instructions. The Sidekick is compatible with the Tool Tray and Adjustable Backrest. It cannot be installed with the Big Boy Attachment because both products use the same mounting location. Adjustable Armrest Compatibility Note Vyper’s current Sidekick page contains conflicting information about the Adjustable Armrest. One section describes the Sidekick as an alternative to the Adjustable Armrest, while the FAQ states that the Adjustable Armrest works with either the Big Boy or Sidekick configuration. I would not publish a definite compatibility claim for that combination until Vyper confirms it directly.
