Willie wagtail (sunshine) Willie wagtails live all over the Australian mainland. They prefer open habitats, especially open woodlands and forests and generally avoid wetter habitat s such as rainforests. They are quite happy to live in close proximity to humans. They are often seen perched on the back of cattle and sheep, taking flight to catch insects disturbed by the larger beast, then returning to their mobile perch to eat them. Forming monogamous stable pairs, they will breed around three times per season in a nest they build together. The nest will last several broods, sometimes being used over successive years. Show more
