Waiting grew from mornings spent exploring giant tide pools along the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Seen from behind, the solitary figure rests in the shallow water, suspended in a moment of anticipation as she waits for the tide to recede. Though it is a self portrait, the scene invites anyone who has ever found peace simply sitting at the edge of the ocean. The painting is also rooted in memories shared with my sister, who lives in Costa Rica. Together we watched the shoreline slowly transform with each passing tide, learning that the ocean moves in its own time-and perhaps we should too. Waiting is a quiet meditation on patience, presence, and the restorative power of the ocean. Waiting was a Finalist in the Palm Art Gallery's Afterimage International Art Call Exhibition.
