Taken from Exploring the Early Americas exhibit, this bookmark depicts a detail image from a section of one of the most historical documents created of early America. Dubbed "Ameri ca's Birth Certificate," the Martin Waldseemuller's 1507 World Map is based on Amerigo Vespucci's voyages to 1501-1502 to the New World, and is the first map to depict the newly found American landmass.
