President Walker IV FCC AM/FM CB Radio — The New Generation of the Legendary Trucker Walker The President Walker IV FCC is the newest generation of the legendary Walker line and th e direct successor to the popular President Walker III. If you ran a rig in the last decade you probably had a Walker in the cab, or you knew someone who did — the Walker line became a trucker standard for a reason. The Walker IV keeps the classic OEM truck form factor and the President receiver drivers know, and adds a modern feature set built for today's cabs: dual-mode AM/FM on all 40 CB channels per the FCC's 2021 rule change, Glow Mode adjustable backlighting, a Noise Reduction Circuit, five dedicated P-Channels, SWR protection, and a front USB-C charging port for phones and tablets. Every Walker IV FCC from CB Radio Supply ships with the factory 6-pin electret microphone, DC power cord, mounting bracket, and mic clip. Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual. What the Walker IV adds on top of the Walker III: Glow Mode — an all-new backlighting mode that lights the entire front panel for high-visibility night driving, in addition to the standard 7-color backlighting Noise Reduction Circuit (NRC) — DSP-based voice filter that cleans up incoming audio in noisy truck cabs, on top of the ANL/NB filtering the Walker III has 5 dedicated P-Channels (P1-P5) — one-touch programmable priority channels (Walker III has 2 emergency/priority channels) Automatic SWR check with audible tone and SWR protection — the radio tunes and checks your antenna and protects the finals from high-SWR damage USB-C charging port (5 V / 2.1 A) replaces the Walker III's older USB-A port If you're upgrading from a Walker III, the Walker IV is designed to feel identical in daily operation — same layout, same feel, same familiar controls — with the modern features layered in. Same fit, more capability. Backwards compatibility The Walker IV FCC is fully backwards compatible with older AM-only CB radios. AM mode is the default, and the FM upgrade adds cleaner-sounding audio only when both radios in the conversation support FM. Everyone else still hears you fine in AM — nothing about the FM upgrade breaks the CB you and your buddies have always used. Install and tuning notes The Walker IV has a built-in SWR meter and an automatic SWR check with audible tone, plus an SWR protection circuit that safeguards the finals if the antenna is misconfigured. That said, SWR should always be verified at the antenna during install using an in-line meter for the most reliable measurement. The built-in SWR meter is a great fallback for on-the-road antenna checks after the initial tune. Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual. Radio license note The Walker IV FCC is a Citizens Band (CB) radio operating on the 27 MHz band. It is FCC Part 95 certified and license-free in the United States — anyone can operate it legally without an FCC exam. This differs from 10-meter amateur radios, which require an FCC amateur radio operator license. Compatibility with common install locations Fits the traditional CB slot in most Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, and International cabs Fits most older Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota pickup dashes with the included under-dash mounting bracket Compatible with any 50-ohm CB antenna system (4-foot fiberglass, mag-mount, 102″ whip, mirror-mount) Works with any standard 6-pin electret or dynamic CB microphone (President's own 6-pin mics, plus adapters for 4-pin and other formats) External speaker jack (rear) for external CB speakers; separate PA speaker jack for a horn Warranty and FCC compliance The Walker IV FCC carries a 2-year manufacturer's warranty from President Electronics. Buy a President-brand antenna at the same time as the radio to extend the warranty to 5 years. It is FCC Type-Accepted for CB use in the United States. Buyers are responsible for compliance with all FCC rules including maximum power limits (4W AM / 4W FM). Use only with a properly tuned 50-ohm antenna system. President Walker IV FCC — Frequently Asked Questions Does the Walker IV FCC have FM? Yes. The Walker IV FCC is a dual-mode AM/FM CB radio following the FCC's 2021 rule change allowing FM on Class D CB radios. It transmits and receives on all 40 CB channels in both AM and FM modes. AM is the default; press the AM/FM button to switch. How many channels does the Walker IV FCC have? The Walker IV FCC is a full 40-channel CB radio with dual-mode AM/FM operation, plus a separate 7-channel NOAA weather receiver for storm and emergency alerts. How much power does the Walker IV FCC put out? The Walker IV FCC outputs 4 watts on AM and 4 watts on FM, matching FCC Part 95 regulations for all Class D Citizens Band radios sold in the United States. Higher output requires an amplifier or an FCC amateur radio license. Does the Walker IV FCC need an FCC license? No. The Walker IV FCC is FCC Part 95 certified and can be operated without a license in the United States. Anyone can transmit on the 40 CB channels legally without an exam. Amateur radio (10-meter and other ham bands) is what requires an FCC operator license. Does the Walker IV FCC have NOAA weather alerts? Yes. The Walker IV FCC has a built-in 7-channel NOAA weather receiver covering 162.400 to 162.550 MHz, plus a Weather Alert function that issues an audible tone when the National Weather Service broadcasts a severe-weather bulletin. No separate weather radio is needed. What's the difference between the Walker IV FCC and the Walker III? Both radios use the same OEM truck-size chassis, the same front-panel layout, the same 4-watt AM/FM RF section, and the same 6-pin front mic connector. The Walker IV adds Glow Mode backlighting, a Noise Reduction Circuit (NRC) for voice audio, 5 dedicated P-Channels (P1-P5) for one-touch priority access (the Walker III has 2), an automatic SWR check with audible tone and SWR protection, and a front USB-C charging port (vs. the Walker III's USB-A port). Same feel, more capability. What is Glow Mode on the Walker IV FCC? Glow Mode is the Walker IV's new backlighting mode that lights the entire front panel for high-visibility night driving. It works in addition to the standard 7-color backlighting and adjustable dimmer, so you can dial in exactly the look and brightness you want for daytime and nighttime driving. What are P-Channels on the Walker IV FCC? P-Channels (P1 through P5) are five dedicated priority channels you can pre-program with your most-used frequencies. Once set, one button gives you instant access to that channel — useful for coordinating with a specific truck, dispatch, or convoy without scrolling through the channel dial. Does the Walker IV FCC have a built-in SWR meter? Yes. The Walker IV has a built-in SWR meter plus an automatic SWR check function that tunes and verifies your antenna with an audible tone. It also has an SWR protection circuit that safeguards the finals from damage in the event of a bad antenna install. SWR should still be verified at the antenna during the initial install using an in-line meter for the most reliable measurement. Does the Walker IV FCC come with a microphone? Yes. The Walker IV FCC includes a factory 6-pin electret microphone with a coiled cord. The 6-pin format matches other President radios and gives you access to a wide range of President-brand upgraded mics. What size is the Walker IV FCC? The Walker IV FCC is an OEM truck-size CB radio: approximately 2.20 inches tall, 7.28 inches wide, and 6.77 inches deep, weighing 2.64 lbs. It fits the factory CB slot in most Class 8 trucks and drops cleanly into overhead compartments and dash cutouts in Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, and International cabs. Does the Walker IV FCC work on 10-meter amateur radio frequencies? No. The Walker IV FCC is a 40-channel CB radio designed for the 27 MHz Citizens Band, not the 10-meter amateur band. It is FCC Part 95 certified and license-free — you can operate it without an amateur radio license. If you want a 10-meter radio (which requires an FCC amateur operator license), see our Stryker SR-955HPC+ or Stryker SR-655HPC+. Does the Walker IV FCC have a USB charging port? Yes — a USB-C charging port on the front of the radio, rated 5 volts / 2.1 amps. Enough to keep a phone or tablet topped up during a shift without a separate charger cluttering the dash. Is the Walker IV FCC backwards compatible with older AM-only CB radios? Yes. The Walker IV FCC operates on both AM and FM, and AM is the default. When you transmit on AM, everyone with an older AM-only CB hears you fine. When both radios in the conversation have FM, you get the cleaner FM audio. Nothing about the Walker IV's FM upgrade breaks compatibility with the CBs you and your buddies have always used. Show more
