Native to the Carpathian Mountains of Eastern Europe, this variety of English walnut is celebrated for its exceptional cold tolerance, robust growth, and high quality nuts. Compared to Black Walnuts, which can have a strong and bitter taste, English Walnuts have a more subtle and complex flavor that many people prefer. Carpathian Walnuts are also thin shelled making them easy to crack. They ripen in mid to late autumn and are ideal for baking and snacking. This variety is self-pollinating and incredibly productive. Walnut trees require very little care, and are incredibly vigorous. They prefer full sun exposure but can handle part shade. Keep in mind, this walnut will reach 40-60 ft at maturity so ensure it has plenty of room to grow. Cold hardy in zones 5 through 8.
