The Cherokee Indians would produce a black dye from walnut bark, which they, in turn, used to dye cloth. As early as the 2nd century AD, shells and kernels of the edible walnut were used to make a dye solution in the Levant. The dull brown and darker highlights of the grain associated with this wood makes the Slate Blue pigment mixed in with the epoxy pop. Sanded and hand crafted to a smooth finish, these coasters will brighten up any room.
