There’s a certain steadiness in Walter — a kind of quiet knowing, unbothered by the fuss — that makes people swarm to him like flies to a light. They always have. Walter most often stands on the sideline, watching the world perform before him, half-sceptical, half-amused, choosing, very intentionally, not to join the circus. And although his laughter is surprisingly light and his hands are soft like newly washed linen, it’s this subtle act of rebellion that people seem to love him for. He isn’t aware of it, of course.
